Employment Agent

An employment agent in Australia is a person who negotiates with applicants and hiring companies in the country to ensure the applicant's employment. An employment agent is a common sight right now here in the country basically because of the ongoing aggressive campaign of the government to go after job seekers all over the world to beef up their dwindling workforce resource.

An employment agent in the country may either be a public or a private employment agent. The difference between the two kinds of employment agent lies in who, or what entity, commissioned them. If it is the government who commissioned them, then it is a public employment agent. A private employment agent, on the other hand, is one who is employed by a private firm or individual to hunt job seekers and help them look for jobs.

The advancement of technology has now made it possible for job seekers to Australia to deal with an employment agent through the World Wide Web. An applicant just has to log on to a specific employment agent's web portal to sign up for an employment agent's services. Or, he or she could even just go through a search engine. If you think the online option isn't for you, then you still have the choice to go personally to an employment agency.

Some things to remember when dealing with an employment agent

If you are an applicant from outside Australia, an employment agent is indeed a great help, because you basically get assured that, sans your lack of knowledge about the country, all your details of employment will be taken care of already. Or, is it otherwise? Guard yourself from fraudulent employment agents by checking out the following tips:

* Beware of an employment agent that charges you fees on the onset of your application. This is one sign that the employment agent will just be coaxing money out of you and run away without actually getting you employed. Also, an employment agent is regularly paid by the company that commissioned him, so there's really no reason why fees should be collected.

* If you are targeting a particular company and you have all its pertinent contact information, just opt to apply directly to them and don't look for an employment agent any more. This will save you time, too.

* It is all right to demand information about the details of the job and all other related employment concerns from the employment agent. This is a right that is guaranteed by the law.
