Becoming a travel agent requires an AQF Certificate II, tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience. Job duties include flight booking, itinerary selection and supplying visa information.Salary Travel agents earn on average $750 a week according to Federal Government figures. The MyCareer website cites the average salary as $48,600 a year.DemographicsThe Australian industry consists of 31,500 travel agents and 77 per cent work full-time. The average age is 35 and 74 per cent are women.Prospects Despite a small fall in employment expected in the next five years, prospects for travel agents are good. Job growth rose in the past five years.
